What is Actinic Keratosis Removal?
Actinic keratosis treatment at Centre for Surgery is provided by GMC-registered specialists working from our CQC-regulated Baker Street clinic. Actinic keratoses (also called solar keratoses) are pre-cancerous skin lesions caused by long-term ultraviolet damage, with a small but real risk of progression to squamous cell carcinoma if left untreated. We offer a full range of evidence-based treatments tailored to the number, location and severity of lesions: cryotherapy and erbium YAG laser for isolated lesions, and field treatments including topical 5-fluorouracil, imiquimod and photodynamic therapy referral for patients with multiple lesions on a sun-damaged area. Every consultation includes clinical assessment to identify any lesions suspicious for invasive squamous cell carcinoma, which require biopsy and onward dermatology or skin cancer specialist care rather than cosmetic treatment.
